Dear Supervisor Capps,
The upcoming hearing on proposed amendments to the County Land Use and Development Code (Case No. 24ORD-00028) and the Coastal Zoning Ordinance (Case No. 24ORD-00029) scheduled for the Board of Supervisors meeting on September 1, 2026 (Agenda item 26-00781) is of significant concern for our community.
As a resident of Santa Barbara who pays taxes here, I’m aware of the implications these amendments could have on our local environment and development practices. Many residents are anxious about how these changes could alter zoning regulations and impact our coastal areas, which are vital not only for our ecology but also for our local economy that relies on tourism and recreation. The community deserves transparency and clarity regarding how these amendments will be implemented and enforced.
What is your position on these proposed amendments? Specifically, will you support or oppose the recommendations during the hearing on September 1st? It’s crucial for constituents like myself to know where you stand on this matter and what actions you intend to take to ensure that our community’s needs are prioritized in these discussions.
Sincerely,
Eric Rosenfeld
